The UK government may acknowledge the vital role gas-fired power will play in keeping the country’s lights burning over the next twenty years but in its Electricity Market Reform consultation paper published on Thursday, it has failed to provide the incentives or assurances the gas industry needs to bring new, much-needed plants online within the next five years.
