Turkmenistan and the European Union have agreed to explore options of how to transport natural gas across the Caspian Sea in an effort to resolve a conflict over maritime borders, as a precondition to source gas supplies for the EU-backed ‘Southern Corridor’. However, Turkmenistan fell short of signing a firm gas supply deal during the visit of a high level EU delegation to Turkmenistan.
