Nine energy companies have started exploration for shale gas in Germany, with the geo-scientific service centre ‘Geologischer Dienst’ in the state of Nord-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) suggesting that NRW alone might hold up to 2.2 Tcm of unconventional gas reserves.
