Russia’s prime minister Vladimir Putin has floated the idea of replacing South Stream’s planned subsea pipeline section through the Black Sea with LNG shipments. ”The construction of liquefied natural gas plants opens up for us new opportunities to diversify markets," Putin said in comments released by the Russian government after his meeting with energy minister Sergei Shmatko on Wednesday.
