Gazprom is estimated to sell about 10 Bcm of additional gas to global markets on the back of a halt in gas deliveries from Libya to Italy and the increased LNG demand from Japan. Denis Borisov, an energy expert with The Bank of Moscow, said that Gazprom’s exports soared by 19.1% since the start of unrests in Libya. Gazprom also offered to export more gas to Europe as Qatar is increasingly diverting spot cargoes to Japan.
