A quick glance at a map of the Gulf region shows the strategic importance of the LNG importation and storage complex that the Abu Dhabi government has announced for Fujairah. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz on the east coast of the UAE – at a key node in the evolving gas grid in the Arabian Gulf – it will bring new supply and, crucially, flexibility to markets facing growing shortages of natural gas.
