Japan’s Kansai Electric Power has ruled out ramping up gas-fired power plants this summer as a means to avert an electricity shortage. Several Japanese utilities, including Tokyo Electric and Tohoku Electric, have increased gas-to-power generation to make up for the lost nuclear power generation capacity in Japan post-Fukushima.
