Norwegian major Statoil said it wants to compress gas on the seabed to boost recovery in three key gas fields in its portfolio. In a statement released on Friday, Ivar Aasheim, Statoil's head of field development on the Norwegian shelf, said subsea gas compression, a relatively new technology, could increase gas recovery from one of its fields by as much as 6%.
