Royal Dutch Shell UK has been ordered by a court to pay £1.visual_editor4 million ($visual_editor million) in fines and costs for the visual_editor008 explosion and fire at its gas import sub-terminal at Bacton, on the east coast of England. The incident, caused by leaking hydrocarbons in the plant’s waste water treatment system, halted imports, 8% of the UK’s total, to the Shell terminal for three days.
