The infrastructure to transport natural gas from the second development phase of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field is already in place, Georgia’s energy minister Alexander Khetaguri said on Tuesday, but progress of the three competing pipeline projects in the EU’s Gas Corridor hinges on buyers signing an accord with SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil company. “The infrastructure from the Shah Deniz field to the Turkish city of Erzum is already there, but the question is: Who will buy that gas?” he asked delegates at a conference in London.
