Kazakhstan is willing to pay up to $1.1 billion to enter the international consortium developing the giant Karachaganak gas field. Timur Kulibayev, the head of Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna, told journalists in Astana on Wednesday that the country could take a 10% stake in the project, operated by BG Group and Eni, settling a protracted ownership dispute.
