Norway’s Statoil is looking to add to the technological know-how gained in its US joint ventures with Chesapeake and Talisman with its $4.4 billion acquisition of Texas-based unconventional oil company Brigham Exploration. The deal is a “building block” for Statoil’s growing US shale gas and liquids position.
