Gazprom deputy chairman Alexander Medvedev this week defended the long-term oil-linked gas contracts that Gazprom employs for its exports. Speaking at the International Energy Agency’s ministerial meeting in Paris on October 18, Medvedev said such contracts “defend all parties” in the gas industry, offering a “predictable and fair price”. And a potential breaking of the oil linkage is an “illusion”, Medvedev said.
