2010 saw global natural gas consumption grow by 7.5% year on year - up 9% in non-OECD countries and 5.8% in OECD countries - according to Eni’s 2011 World Oil and Gas Review. Russia regained its position from the US as the largest gas producer in the world for 2010, producing a total of 624.61 Bcm; while the US hit a “historical” production peak and Qatar reaffirmed itself as the fastest growing natural gas producer.
