“Big mess” in France poses shale gas acceptability challenge

Executives at the European Autumn Gas Conference in Paris this week outlined the challenges facing unconventional gas projects in Europe. Bruno Courme, managing director of Total Gas Shale Europe, admitted that the sector “has ended up with a big mess” in France, after the government revoked shale gas exploration permits due to environmental concerns. “Acceptability has to be our priority in Europe,” Courme said.
