Germany’s Federal Association of Energy and Water (BDEW) on Monday presented its first position paper on unconventional gas developments to the German parliament’s Environment Committee. BDEW – which represents 1,800 companies covering 90% of Germany's gas sales and 80% of its drinking water – said it supported shale development in Germany “in principle”, but only “provided environmental and safety issues do not preclude it”.
