Polish gas monopoly PGNiG has suggested that its 15 licences in Poland could hold up to 900 Bcm of shale gas “under an optimistic scenario”, PGNiG project manager Przemyslaw Krogulec was quoted as saying by the media. Poland is actively looking to unlock its shale gas reserves and reduce its dependence on Russian gas, which equates to roughly two thirds of Poland’s annual gas consumption.
