Japan said on Wednesday that decommissioning the nuclear reactors at Fukushima could take as long as 40 years, with melted nuclear fuel possibly stuck where it is for 25 years. It is unlikely there will be any direct implications for gas or LNG since it is already known that the reactors at the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant could never be restarted, but indirectly this will only strengthen opposition to nuclear power - which has been growing post-Fukushima.
