Norwegian state-owned pipeline operator Gassco said on Tuesday that a new 1,000 km pipeline network to connect Barents Sea gas into the existing Norwegian offshore transportation system and onwards to Europe could be built by 2020. The network could cost at least $4 billion and building it would depend on whether Statoil opts to expand its existing Snøhvit LNG plant as an alternative way to monetise gas from the frontier region, Gassco said.
