The US Department of Energy has slashed its estimate of recoverable reserves of natural gas in the US to 48visual_editor Tcf, only 58% of its visual_editor011 estimate of 8visual_editor7 Tcf. In its Energy Outlook visual_editor01visual_editor published on Monday, the EIA said this was largely due to the revised estimate of the Marcellus Shale, which has dropped by 66% from 410 Tcf to 141 Tcf.
