President Obama on Tuesday pledged support for the development of shale gas drilling in the United States. In his State of the Union address, Obama called his administration to open more than 75% of potential offshore oil and gas resources. “We have a supply of natural gas that can last America nearly one hundred years,” he said. However, he warned that this must be done safely, requiring companies to disclose the chemicals they use during hydraulic fracking operations.
