EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger said on Saturday that the sustained cold spell across Europe poses “no danger” to Europe’s security of gas supply, as the continent has ample storage and interconnection and “everyone is making an effort” to cooperate on gas transit. But Gazprom has expressed concern about its continued ability to access storage in the EU – access vital to the Russian company meeting its European supply obligations – if the EU’s Third Energy Package is implemented.
