UK Energy and Climate Change secretary Edward Davey said on Friday that electricity generated from gas still has an important role to play over the coming decades - alongside nuclear and renewable energy - as the UK makes the transition to a low-carbon economy. In a bid to offer more certainty to gas investors, Davey has set out a number of measures as part of the electricity reform legislation, which he hopes to bring forward in the next session of parliament.
