The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is planning a major LNG regasification and storage complex on the coast of Fujairah, one of the seven emirates that make up the UAE, putting it outside the strategic Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian/Arabian Gulf. Technical advisor to the project, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), says the 8 mtpa terminal would be “the first in the world to employ a combination of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), a floating storage facility (FSU) and onshore LNG regasification”.
