In a move to boost domestic US energy supply, the Obama administration said it would gauge interest again from oil and gas companies to explore federal waters in Cook Inlet off the south-central coast of Alaska. A federal lease sale for the area was cancelled due to a lack of interest last year. The Interior Department has estimated that the area could hold more than 1 billion barrels of oil and 1.2 Tcf of natural gas.
