PetroChina has started building China's largest onshore gas liquefaction plant – the Tai’an plant, in the Shandong province – which will be capable of producing 0.6 mtpa of LNG (equivalent to 2.6 MMcm/d of gas), parent company CNPC reportedly said in an in-house newspaper on Thursday. The small-scale plant, which will be built using home-grown technology and equipment, will be operational in late 2013 and will cost an estimated $237.94 million.
