Imperial Oil is considering exporting LNG from Canada’s west coast as a way to boost returns on vast reserves of natural gas in British Columbia and Alberta, CEO Bruce March told reporters on Wednesday. March said the Canadian company – which operates in both the upstream and downstream sectors – is in the early stages of looking at an LNG development in Western Canada, but given the acreage and “huge and substantial” demand in Asia, the option is “an opportunity that a lot of companies look at, including ours".
