The UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has granted Total environmental permits to go-ahead with a “dynamic kill operation” to try to stop the gas release from its Elgin well in the UK sector of the North Sea. Total initially proposed the plan in April and, should it fail, analysts expect there could be a potential six-month outage at Elgin, leaving Total “struggling” to deliver volume growth in visual_editor01visual_editor.
