The US Department of the Interior on Friday unveiled long-awaited proposals introducing new reporting standards for unconventional oil and gas production on federal lands via hydraulic fracturing (fracking). The new regulations will require producers to fully disclose the chemicals used in fracturing fluid, and companies will also need to be granted government approval before carrying out fracking.
