Chevron has signed a $15 billion preliminary agreement for the sale of 1 mtpa of LNG for 20 years from the Wheatstone LNG project to Japan’s Tohoku Electric, the US major announced on Saturday. Chevron Australia managing director Roy Krzywosinski told reporters in Adelaide that Wheatstone is off to a “flying start”, having now committed 80% of its initial 8.9 mtpa output to Asian buyers.
