Japanese demand could tap into a combination of short-term deals for new Qatari LNG supply and spot purchases from other sources – especially Atlantic Basin suppliers such as Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea – to compensate for the ongoing loss of its nuclear capacity, according to BP group chief economist and vice president Christof Ruhl.
