BP has started drilling its first well at its concession at the Risha natural gas field in eastern Jordan, located near the border with Iraq, the company said on Monday. The drilling at Risha follows two years of extensive seismic survey, which BP said was “one of the largest ever acquired in the Middle East and one of the safest and highest-productivity surveys acquired in BP history". Jordanian government strategy calls for Risha to produce 330 MMcf/d by 2015, which compares with current output of 18 mcf/d.
