The UK Energy and Climate Change Committee has presented the first volume of its ‘Draft Energy Bill: Pre-Legislative Scrutiny’ report, stating that it is “vital to have a clearer understanding of the likely impact of the EMR [Electricity Market Reform] proposals on the future role for gas”. The report follows the close of DECC’s call for evidence on the role of gas-fired power generation in late June, with the government to announce firmer plans for gas as part of EMR in the autumn.
