The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has reported that a limited field study of fracking growth in the Marcellus Shale field in Greene County, Pennsylvania showed fracture growth ceased more than 5,000 feet below drinking water aquifers, with no detectable upward migration of gas or fluids.
