The UK's 960 MW Hunterston B nuclear power station has been cleared for operation, despite cracks having been found in the graphite core of one of its reactors. Inspectors from the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) told Gas Strategies that it was satisfied with operator EDF’s evidence that the two cracks in Reactor 4 presented “no immediate safety significance”.
