Sabine Pass is just the start of US exports, says Cheniere’s Souki, as construction begins

Cheniere has begun construction of the first LNG export plant in the United States for more than four decades – and only the second ever. LNG Business Review caught up with chairman and CEO Charif Souki at the recent World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur and asked him: How is the project proceeding? And what are the prospects for other LNG exports from the US? Souki was unequivocal: the US is well-placed to export a lot of gas, while meeting domestic needs, “without significantly affecting prices”. What’s more, he sees greater political support for, than against.
