Ineos, owner of the Grangemouth petrochemicals plant in Scotland, has received a £230 million ($393 million) loan guarantee from the UK government to build a shale gas import facility. The company said it could now raise funds to invest in a new terminal to import, store and process ethane from shale gas “as North Sea gas supplies dwindle”.
