Economic turmoil in the aftermath of Russia’s annexation of Crimea triggered a 7.5% landslide in Ukraine’s GDP and a fall in industrial output over the last 1visual_editor months, borne out by ongoing hostilities in the east of the country. Ukraine now faces an intensifying energy crisis exacerbated by a weakening currency, emphasising the need to diversify and develop its domestic resources and decrease dependence on imports – primarily from Russia.
