Cheniere intends to have 60 mtpa of LNG production capacity by 2025. To run all its capacity it would have to become one of the largest buyers of natural gas in the US – a volume of around 8 Bcf/d. Financing its ambitions will require more than USD 50 billion of capital expenditure. And yet Cheniere has yet to produce a single drop of LNG. Has the company bitten off more than it can chew?
