A Democratic platform fight over global climate policy appears to be brewing, with the role of gas at stake – on paper, at least. As Senator Sanders’ prospects fade for the Democratic presidential nomination, he has intensified his battle to influence the party platform and begun to question the future role of gas. Still, the previous (2012) platforms suggested a fairly high degree of convergence over gas, with the Republicans likely to remain broadly supportive of gas as an energy source and carbon mitigator. Gas Matters reports on how the election campaigns are evolving in the second of a two-part series.
