A US district appeals court rejected environmental challenges to two LNG export projects in the US Gulf of Mexico this week, ruling that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) made no error in approving the projects.
The challenges from environmental lobby group Sierra Club centred on the approval for Sempra LNG’s 13.2 mtpa Freeport project in Texas and a send-out capacity adjustment at the first four trains at Cheniere’s 27 mtpa Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana.
