The Ivory Coast hopes to double oil and gas production to 200,000 boe/year by 2020 and start importing LNG by 2018 to help meet rising domestic demand, according to news reports citing state energy firm Petroci.
The West Africa country has awarded exploration rights to 20 offshore areas and plans to offer more of the remaining 20 areas in the future, Petroci MD Ibrahima Diaby was quoted. No timeline for the next exploration tender was given.
