Israel and Turkey have agreed to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in gas exploration and a proposed gas pipeline from Israel to Turkey, following a meeting between the two nations’ energy ministers, according to reports on Friday.
Israel’s energy minister Yuval Steinitz is the first minister from the country to visit Turkey in six years. His visit comes four months after the two nations announced that they would normalise ties, following a six-year standoff triggered by Israeli armed forces storming a Turkish aid ship in 2010, killing 10 Turkish activists.
