South American gas demand is predicted to rise 30% to around 190 Bcm by 2030, but the region is only expected to become a “major future LNG market” if climate conditions are extreme, according to the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES).
Consumption across the continent has grown significantly thanks to economic growth, new gas-fired power generation and gas substituting oil industry and the transport sector.
