US pipeline exports to Mexico have grown quickly, replacing some of the Latin American country’s LNG imports, and capacity is expected to more or less double by the end of 2019, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has predicted.
Strong growth in Mexican power sector gas demand, declining domestic production and the relatively high price of LNG imports over US pipeline gas has driven rapid expansion in cross-border capacity, the body said in a note.
