French energy firm Engie has started production at the Cygnus development in the North Sea, as part of a plan to export gas to the Bacton terminal on the east coast of England, the company said on Thursday.
Located 150 km off the coast of Lincolnshire, the ten-well development is expected to account for 5% of total UK gas output once it plateaus at 250 MMcf/d (2.6 Bcm/year). The company did not specify a target date for reaching that level.
