Australia’s LNG exports rose nearly 40% last year and are on course to grow by an even larger margin in 2017, according to a market forecast by independent energy consultancy EnergyQuest.
A “plethora of new projects” in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland drove exports to 37 mtpa in 2016 and volumes could rise by 63% this year to around 60 mpta as the Australia Pacific and Gorgon projects ramp up and the Wheatstone and Ichthys plants come on stream, the company said.
