An imminent rise in global LNG supply could greatly increase volumes available to Europe but render some US liquefaction capacity unprofitable, according to a new report by the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies (OIES).
The worldwide LNG pool is set to expand by more than 40% from 253 mpta last year to more than 370 mtpa in 2020 and 2021, as successive waves of new liquefaction trains come online in the US, Australia, Russia, Indonesia and Cameroon, the paper forecasted.
