LNG has enjoyed only muted growth in the UK to date, crowded out by reliable pipeline supplies and ample storage that historically have proven cheaper and more convenient than liquefied imports.
But if these long-standing pillars of British energy security weaken over the longer term, LNG could be well placed to take advantage and fill in any supply shortfall at relatively short notice.
