Estonia’s Alexela Group will seek private funding for its proposed 160 Mcm Paldiski LNG terminal following the European Commission’s (EC) refusal this week to fund 39% of the project’s total cost.
Alexela executive vice president Marti Haal said the decision had been anticipated, after Baltic neighbour Lithuania leased an FSRU for its Klaipedos Nafta LNG terminal independent of the Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan (BEMIP).
